The heat press is the alternative to screen printing services in Kenya.
The heat press is the latest technology in the production of small quantities of T-shirts. It involves the use of vinyl material to transfer an image to a piece of fabric. The concept of heat-press machines is printing by sublimation.
They use a special machine to transfer the graphics using heat by pressing for seconds.
Screen printing gives clear colors even on dark fabrics. The screen itself has mesh to transfer the graphics using a squeegee (squeezer).

Here is the step by step process for screen printing.

Step 1. Prepare the design. You create the design on a computer then print on transparent acetate film. You then prepare the stencil from this film
Step 2. Prepare the screen. choose a mesh to suit the design’s complexity. Coat the mesh with light-reactive emulsion and allow it time to harden under bright light.
Step 3. Expose emulsion. Once the emulsion coating gets hard on the mesh screen, place the acetate film with the design on top. Then expose it under very bright light. The parts of the design remain in liquid form.
Step 4. Rinse the screen to leave the imprint of the design on the screen. This makes it easier for the ink to pass through. Make some retouch and make the imprint as accurate as possible where need be. Leave the stencil to dry.
Step 5. Printing process. Lower the screen on the board, cover the parts you don’t want to paint with masking tape. Use a squeegee to pull ink to the full length of the screen.
Let the product dry to create a color-fast finish.
